YARNAGEDDON

I bought out Lens Mill’s stock of yarn today. Almost literally. Want to see what I got? I’ll show you. And I’ve just started an afghan on my new afghan loom, from Joann’s.

First, this lovely Red Heart Boutique yarn, in the Treasure collection, called “Watercolours”. I’m not 100% sure what to do with it, but I’ve used other colours of this for shawls.

I used to work at a store that carried Paton’s Lace yarn, but my boss scared me, I quit, and won’t go back. It’s mohair, but mostly acrylic. One ball is enough for a shawl. I got this nice blue gradient.

Some more of Paton’s Lace. It works out beautiful with the gradients and colour. I don’t work with lace much, and I was thrilled to find a few variations.

A big bag (one pound in weight) of a nice blue yarn, for a circle sweater. I’m revamping Isela Phelp’s pattern to adapt it to a large gauge loom with less pegs (pattern: 51-55, I believe, I want to do it on a standard 41 peg large gauge circular loom, I’m editing the pattern a lot, and will share a bit when it’s done. I don’t want to break any copyrights)

This is the yarn I’m using for my afghan, which I am casting on right now.

This yarn is metallic when looked at in real life, and very cool. Not sure what I’m going to use it for.

My mom bought a lot of this last time we were at Lens Mill and she loved working with it. It’s not quite thin enough to be lace, but its not bulky to be worsted. It’s got the same feel as the lovely Ice Cream yarn from LionBrands that I use so much.

This is a knitting bee. It’s like a tiny knitting loom. They had these before looms, though. My mom had one as a kid, and you make little cords with the 4 pegs. Will be good for little loom projects, and it’s super cute.

So that’s my haul of the day!
