I saw someone posting pictures of all the socks they had knit with Premier Yarns collection of fruit patterned yarns. It’s really fun and I’ve been knitting the hell out of them. The Premium Fruits sock yarn is great, and has 12 unique flavours to knit. So far I’ve knit half of them, with the other half on the way!
I used the 56 peg AKB Her’s Sock Loom but any sock loom can work, if you can cast on toes up. Here is a video on how to cast on toes up on the AKB looms. I recommend a loom with factor of 4 stitches, for the last 10 rows, as it’s a ribbed stitch (knit 2, purl 2)
I recommend using a 1/4″ or smaller gauge loom, the sock yarn works perfectly with it. 3/8″ might be okay, but fine gauge.
Pattern
- Sock loom with a gauge of 1/4″ or less
- For a woman, 56 or less pegs, for a man, the 64 His loom is great
- Sock yarn, about 240 yards per sock
- Knitting tool. I prefer using one with a very sharp end, it’s also very thin. It’sf from a company that shut down. I recommend using the tool from CinDwood
- EWK-Knit This is for e-wrapped knitting. This is when you wrap the peg completely around and lift the yarn up and over.
- FK – Flat Knit This is for a flat knit, which gives a nice texture and adds tightness. It’s done by putting the working yarn in front of a peg, not wrapping around it in any way, and then lifting the existing loop over it.
- P – Purl There is very little purling in this patter. You put your hook, sharp part facing down, through the yarn on the loom. Put the working yarn on the hook and pull it up through the yarn on the loom, there will be an 0. Then lift the yarn on the loom over the peg, so there’s nothing on the peg, and replace it with the 0 you made. Pull and tighten.
- W&T – Wrap and turn This is for the short rows for the heel and toes. You knit up to the peg beside it, then wrap the yarn, from back to front, around the peg itself, and then knit or purl back the other direction. In this pattern, for the short rows, I e wrap knit going clockwise and flat knit going counterclockwise. If the peg is already wrapped, which is the second part of the short row, just wrap the peg again, so there are 3 loops, and when you get to them, knit them as 1 stitch.
I put a stitch marker on peg 1, peg 8, peg 20, and peg 28. The one on 1 is for starting and finishing rows. The ones on 8 and 20 are for the short rows. The one on peg 28 is half of 56, and where the short rows start.
Do a toes up cast on and start with the toes
FK around the loom until you’re on peg 1.
The toes for the sock are the first thing you’re going to knit. They’re done in short rows – not all the way around, but stopping and turning to go back and forth to increase and decrease.

Short Rows Part 1
- FK to peg 27, W&T
- EWK to peg 2, W&T
- FK to peg 26, W&T
- EWKnit to peg 3, W&T
- FK to peg 25, W&T
- EWK to peg 4, W&T
- FK to peg 25, W&T
- EWK to peg 5, W&T
- FK to peg 24, W&T
- EWK to peg 6, W&T
- FK to peg 23, W&T
- EWK to peg 7, W&T
- FK to peg 22, W&T
- EWK to peg 8, W&T
This concludes the first part of the short rows. The last pegs wrapped are peg 8 and 20, where the markers are. Now, you’re going to increase, and if you have a peg with 2 or 3 loops on it, on the next row, knit all the loops as if it were one
Short Rows Part 2
- FK to peg 21, W&T
- EWK to peg 8, W&T (2 loops)
- FK to peg 22, W&T (3 loops)
- EWK to peg 7, W&T
- FK to peg 23, W&T
- EWP to peg 6, W&T
- FK to peg 24, W&T
- EWK to peg 5, W&T
- FK to peg 25, W&T
- EWK to peg 4, W&T
- FK to peg 26, W&T
- EWK to peg 3, W&T
- FK to peg 27, W&T
- EWK to peg 2, W&T
- EWK to peg 28, W&T
- FK to peg 1, W&T
- EWP to peg 28, W&T (peg 29)
- FK to peg 1, W&T (peg 56)
The short rows are done!
Next, the foot. This varies on size. For a womens 6-10 I do about 70 rows.
Row 2: FK all pegs
Row 3-70: EWK all odd (1, 3, 5, etc) rows, FK all even (2, 4, 6, etc) rows
Now, do all the short rows exactly the way you did in part 1.
Leg
Row 2: FK all pegs
Row 3-50 (or whatever you choose) EWK odd rows, FK, even rows
Cuff
I use ten rows, you can add, subtract, or leave this part off.
Row 1-10: (K2, P2)* around
Now, cast off in your choice! Socks are done!
